Harrisburg Horizon

Harrisburg Horizon

The Harrisburg Horizon is a semi-professional basketball team in Harrisburg, PA. I maintained and redesigned their website along with the league website as an internship during my senior year of college. It was awesome; I only had to take two classes because the internship took the place of two classes. Also, I was able to telecommute, so I was able to do work whenever I wanted to.

This was my first experience with CSS. Boy, I really did not know what I was getting myself into. I do not think I really grasped the full power of it until much later.

The goal of the redesign was to have a newer and updated look to try and draw more fans to the games.

This site really does not show what I am capable of now, but it was my first with CSS, so it is a must show. The one element that I really like on this site is the court background image on the left hand side, and I like the navigation as well.

I no longer maintain the site, and I did not really understand making the site “flexible” yet, so the design was not that great across browsers.

Unfortunately, they have redesigned their site again, and in my opinion, it is a step backward. They have basically completely scrapped everything that I had done. I had at least set them up to use a single stylesheet to update their website. It is unfortunate, but at least I have a screen shot of what it used to look like.

(psst, Google, with just a little design work it could have looked so much nicer!)
